Navantia Australia has announced a new contract with Tasmania-based company Taylor Bros for the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) SEA 5000 Future Frigate programme.
A team of Taylor Bros personnel has been combined with Navantia Australia’s design and production teams in support of the development.

The integrated team is set to jointly identify feasible solutions to meet the mixed messing and work scheduling requirements of the Future Frigates programme.
It will also be responsible for carrying out the project, from the initial design stage to ensuring turnkey habitability.
The final building specifications for accommodation will be compliant with Lloyd’s Register’s Naval Ship Rules standards, DEF (AUST) 5000 (Maritime Requirements Set) and the Commonwealth of Australia’s SEA 5000 Ship requirements.
Navantia Australia managing director Donato Martinez said: “We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with Taylor Bros to produce a modern state-of-the-art design that provides safe, comfortable and functional accommodation on-board our F-5000 proposed Future Frigate for the RAN, building on the lessons learned from the Hobart-class design, planning and production activities.”

Navantia Australia has previously collaborated with more than 200 companies across the country over the past ten years in order to develop a sovereign naval shipbuilding capability for the Australian Navy.
