By GlobalDataThe ASIST system enables the pilots to safely land helicopters while the ship is in motion and in all weather conditions. It accomplishes all the deck handling operations without engaging personnel on the flight deck.
During the landing period, ASIST’s precision helicopter position sensing equipment system continuously tracks and monitors the position of the aircraft and displays the designated landing area to the pilot through a series of visual landing cues.
Milgem is the first indigenous warship building project of the Turkish Navy. The Milgem Class corvettes will undergo missions including the flag, search and rescue operations, patrol, observation and anti-submarine warfare.
Work will be carried out at Indal Technologies, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company in Canada, and the deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2010.
