The newly launched P-28 stealth Corvette is the first of a series of four under Project 28.
The ship, known as ASWC Kamorta, is a front-line warship with anti-submarine warfare capabilities and a very low radiated underwater noise signature.
The corvette features the latest indigenously developed sonar to detect submarines. It also includes warship torpedo tubes, improvised rocket launchers and scutter launchers for anti-submarine warfare.
ASWC Kamorta is scheduled to be officially commissioned into the naval fleet by mid 2012.
Currently, three other corvettes of the same class are under construction at GRSE, and all are expected to be inducted by early 2015, according to navy officials.
