The Iranian Navy has successfully test fired indigenous torpedoes against sub-surface targets during naval exercise Vellayat 89 in the Strait of Hormuz and the northern Indian Ocean.

Iranian submarines participated in the exercise, successfully entering enemy waters and passing enemy linking lines while transferring military personnel and equipment, according to Fars News Agency.

During the drills, the navy also used its first indigenous destroyer, Jamaran, and other newly developed military tools and equipment in an effort to test their operational readiness.

The Iranian Navy is operating its first domestically built Ghadir Class submarine, which is equipped with sonar-evading technology and capable of firing missiles and torpedoes simultaneously.
