The Egyptian Navy may receive four Oliver Hazard Perry and two Knox Class frigates from the US under an estimated $210m foreign military sales program.

Egypt has requested the frigates along with associated technical services including repair and upgrade, engineering change proposals, tools and test equipment, software upgrades, spare parts, training and logistical support for the six frigates.

The Egyptian Navy will use the technical services to maintain the systems installed on the supplied frigates and the supplied systems installed on Egyptian Navy platforms.

The prime contractor for the supply of frigates will be VSE Global in Alexandria, Virginia.
