The US Office of Naval Research (ONR) has awarded an indefinite-delivery / indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract to Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) to continue operation of the Navy Metalworking Center (NMC).

The $99m contract has a two-year base performance period, with three option years.

NMC helps implement new technologies and develop new production means for weapon system contractors and suppliers, lowering the production and total ownership cost of naval and other defence weapon systems.

The centre works in partnership with the government, industry, weapon system prime contractors and programme offices.

CTC has operated the NMC programme since 1988 and the recent project includes a track weld shaver used in the production of DDG 1000 and DDG 51 ships.
