The Russian Navy’s K-119-class nuclear-powered submarine SSN Voronezh has successfully completed modernisation, overhaul and post-repair trials at Zvezdochka Ship Repair Centre, Russia.

The Project 949A Antei Northern Fleet (NF) submarine has set sail to Kola Peninsula for permanent basing, where an acceptance certificate is expected to be signed.

Zvezdochka shipyard performed emergency repairs on the ship’s main turbine and replaced the nuclear reactor cores.

The upgrade on the submarine also included dock repairs, replaced turbines and leakage elimination in the steam generator, and the vessel is now scheduled to enter service in 2014.

The 154m-long vessel has a beam of 18.2m, submerged displacement of 24t, a maximum speed of 32 knots and is equipped with 24 Granit anti-ship missiles.
