NL EASP AIR plans to install these systems on its three fixed-wing Dornier DO328-110 multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft. The company provides special mission support services to defence and governments.

The UltraFORCE 380X-HDc’s advanced imaging technology will support NL EASP AIR’s search and rescue (SAR), maritime patrol, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

NL EASP AIR Operations CEO and director Pieter Voeten said: “We wanted the best long-range surveillance technology available in today’s market to support European Union member state end-users and other individual EU customers, and we are getting exactly that with Teledyne FLIR Defense.”

Introduced in July, the UltraFORCE 380X-HDc offers high-definition imaging in a compact, low-profile package, free from ITAR restrictions.

Its full 1080p resolution across visual, thermal, low-light, and shortwave infrared cameras makes it suitable for airborne reconnaissance and border patrol operations, both day and night.

The system features continuous zoom on EO, long-range daylight spotter, and IR sensors, providing uninterrupted viewing with a long DRI range.

Weighing 31.3kg, with a low 14.6-inch height profile, the UltraFORCE 380X-HDc gimbal optimises ground clearance in rotary aircraft without compromising capability and performance.

FLIR Defense airborne systems-Europe senior director Kety Frachey said: “Immigration activity at sea is increasing across Europe, and NL EASP AIR serves as a valuable partner to help spot where it’s happening and save lives.

“The precision imaging sensors on UltraFORCE 380X will allow operators to quickly identify and respond to border crossings as they unfold and direct resources to those at risk.”

Deliveries to NL EASP AIR are anticipated to be completed by early 2025.

Teledyne FLIR Defense serves more than 20 European countries and more than 70 countries globally with airborne and maritime surveillance systems.

In 2022, the US Naval Surface Warfare Centre contracted Teledyne FLIR Defense to maintain electro-optical sensor solutions used for ISR purposes.
