Under the estimated $155m foreign military sale, Spain will receive refurbishment of six SH-60F multimission utility helicopters, 13 T700-GE-401C engines, inspection and modifications, spares and repair-related equipment.
The refurbishment of the helicopters will modernise and improve the Spanish Navy’s ability to perform humanitarian missions, search and rescue, medical evacuations, firefighting and anti-piracy efforts.
Spain currently has 12 SH-60s in its inventory and has substantial experience in inducting the helicopters into its armed forces.
General Electric will be the prime contractor.
