The sea trials were intended to test the vessel’s at sea refuelling capability and to ensure the correct function of onboard systems including propulsion, communications, combat and electronic monitoring.
Tests were also conducted for noise, vibration, surface search radar, auxiliary navigation radar, shooting guns and dropping anchors.
The Navantia-built combat supply ship will provide logistical support to a navy task force, and will also be available for humanitarian and environmental operations.
The 173.9m-long, 23m-wide double-hulled tanker has an full load displacement of 9,800t and an operational range of 6,000nm.
