The Israeli Navy is trying to obtain financial assistance from Germany to acquire two Meko A-200 vessels worth over €50m.
The two vessels will be equipped with state-of-the-art weapons systems and missiles providing them with the ability to intercept several class vessels, submarines and inland targets.
The German-made Meko A-200 anti-air warfare (AAW) frigate is a surface combatant featuring advanced propulsion systems, sensors and weaponry to provide enhanced survivability.
The 119m-long and 15.8m-wide vessel can accommodate a crew of 130 and can travel at a maximum speed of 29kt.
