Qanapi Group, a global cybersecurity company specialising in data protection, has confirmed the addition of former US Secretary of the Navy (US SECNAV) Carlos Del Toro to its board of directors.

With a background in both national security and technological advancement, Del Toro will guide Qanapi in its forthcoming strategic growth initiatives.

His expertise is expected to be instrumental in enhancing the firm’s collaborations with governmental bodies, tackling emerging regulatory and cyber defence issues, and providing reliable services for essential projects.

Toro has more than 40 years of experience across the military, government, and private sector.

He served as the 78th US SECNAV from 2021 until January 2025, during which time he led initiatives in technological modernisation, including the advancement of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity capabilities.

Before his tenure as US SECNAV, Toro founded SBG Technology Solutions, a company focused on space systems engineering and high-tech IT services.
