Oceaneering International’s Aerospace and Defense Technologies (ADTech) division has received a contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for the operation and maintenance of the US Navy’s submarine rescue systems.

The contract has a potential value of $119m and is valid for one year. It also has four one-year extension options.

Oceaneering will collaborate with the Undersea Rescue Command, which is based at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California, for the maintenance, certification and operation of the submarine rescue systems and related equipment.

Oceaneering ADTech segment senior vice-president Philip Beierl said: “We are excited about this opportunity to leverage our many years of experience in submarine rescue, submarine maintenance, and offshore subsea operations, to help ensure the US Navy has a safe, robust, and ready submarine rescue capability.

“Oceaneering’s highest commitments are to safety and quality, and we look forward to working closely with other US Navy stakeholders and contributing to the international submarine rescue community.”

Oceaneering has worked with the US Navy for its Submarine Rescue programme for over 20 years and provides engineering efforts and capability enhancements.

Oceaneering CEO and president Rod Larson added: “It is a privilege to continue providing the US Navy with exemplary solutions.

“This award is the latest example of how we continue to provide our non-energy customers with superior service and technologies while growing this promising segment of our business.”
