Willard Marine has been awarded a contract by the US Navy Foreign Military Sales (FMS) office to provide four aluminium patrol boats for the Ukrainian Navy.

Under the contract, which has an option for a fifth boat, Willard Marine will develop and deliver two 11m-long Sea Force aluminium patrol boats and two 7m-long Sea Force aluminium patrol boats, each with an open cockpit configuration to the Ukrainian Navy.

The company will also deliver an additional 7m-long patrol boat to the Ukrainian Navy, upon request.

Willard Marine president Ulrich Gottschling said: "This is our third FMS order for the Ukrainian Navy, and we have developed an excellent working relationship with them over the last few years."

The Ukrainian Navy will deploy the high-speed aluminium patrol boats to conduct visit, board, search and seizure operations and other naval operations as required.

In addition, Willard Marine will provide comprehensive onsite crew training in the design, operation, maintenance and repair of the boats as part of the contract.

Powered by Cummins QSB 5.9 380 HP engines and outfitted with Hamilton model HJ292 water jets, the 11m-long boat is operating from most amphibious vessels in the US Navy.

Capable of accommodating a crew of 26, the vessels feature force protection packages and gun mount foundations as well as engine and gear fast lube change system (FLOCS).

Built to US Navy specifications, the 7m-long boats have been designed for conventional launch from navy ships and are each equipped with a Cummins QSB 5.9 230 HP engine and a Mercruiser sterndrive.
