The Thailand Ministry of Defence has awarded a €25m contract to Finmeccanica subsidiary SELEX Sistemi Integrati (SI) to supply the Kronos radar system for use by the Royal Thai Navy.

The radar system will be installed in Thai Navy vessels for monitoring and identification of targets as well as to provide electronic counter-countermeasures against incoming threats.

The multifunctional radar system incorporates an Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA) antenna that enables the system to track with extreme precision.

The system will also be equipped within the air surveillance network onto the Royal Thai Air defence system and will be used by the Coastal Defence Command.
