The South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration has awarded a contract to STX Offshore & Shipbuilding to build two frigates for the South Korean Navy.

Under the $201m contract, the company will deliver the frigates to South Korea by the end of 2015, according to Koreaherald News.

Further details regarding the vessels were not disclosed.

Currently, the nation has plans to procure 20 new frigates by 2020 under a naval build-up project.
