South Korea, China begin joint naval exercise

The South Korea and China Navies have begun the fourth joint Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) near Ningbo and Shanghai.

The South Korea and China Navies have begun the fourth joint Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) near Ningbo and Shanghai.

South Korea's 4,500t Wang Geon destroyer will participate in the exercise alongside a Chinese frigate.

During the exercise, military talks will also be held on naval exchange and humanitarian cooperation in areas including rescue operations.

The exercise will conclude on 25 November 2011.
