Seaspan‘s Vancouver Shipyards has received a contract from the Canadian Federal Government to build non-combat vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) under the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) programme.

The $8bn contract also includes an option for a further 17 vessels.

Initially, the company will build infrastructure worth over $150m at Seaspan’s shipyards in North Vancouver and Victoria, Canada, while vessel design work is finalised.
