The contract includes options for additional quantities for both domestic and international assets and the total contract value exceeds $550m over five years, if all options are exercised.
Under the $42.6m contract, the company will deliver a total of 100 mk54 kits for US fleet inventory and in support of foreign military sales.
The mk54 can be deployed from a surface ship, helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft to locate, identify and destroy underwater targets.
Work will be carried out at the company’s Torpedo and Readiness Center, co-located with the US Navy at NUWC Division Keyport, Washington, and at the Seapower Capability Center, Rhode Island, US.
Raytheon has been the navy’s sole lightweight torpedoes production supplier since 1999.
