KBR has been awarded a contract by BAE Systems to provide a virtual training programme for the Royal Australian Navy’s Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ship crew.

The company will develop and deliver a real-time, 3D virtual ship training information system (ViSTIS), which will be used to train the LHD crew to operate the ship.

Under the contract, more than 50 different virtual models will be delivered for various training scenarios such as ship familiarisation, including awareness in high-voltage, damage control and marine engineering systems.

The training courseware helps to reduce training and operating costs, increase trainee safety and on-board productivity, and provides enhanced training system availability, flexibility and portability for the crew.
