The Iraqi Navy has officially received the sixth 35m patrol boat (P-305) from the US Navy at Umm Qasr Naval Base, south of Baghdad, ahead of schedule.

The P-305 is equipped with a 30mm gun weapon system, is capable of cruising at a speed of 30 knots and can accommodate a crew of 25.

The patrol boat is designed to assist the navy in performing missions to secure its maritime sovereignty.

The US Navy recently delivered the P-304 and P-306 patrol boats to the Iraqi Navy and will deliver another patrol craft next month.

The Iraqi Navy is planning to procure around 15 35m-long armoured patrol vessels.
