The UK Navy’s Trafalgar Class nuclear-powered attack submarine HMS Torbay will undergo a 13-month revalidation and assisted maintenance period (RAMP) undertaken by Babcock at Devonport Dockyard in the UK.

The Torbay upgrades include the installation of the Cromwell radio antenna to enhance internal communications and the Ship Alongside upgrade to provide connectivity, television and telephone services on board.
Babcock boat manager Jon Lewis said: "We will develop and refine the Earned Value Management (EVM) project management technique, first rolled out for HMS Talent’s RAMP, to ensure we maintain a broad view of progress across the whole platform."
The RAMP also involves improving submarine camouflage, tail shaft replacement and an upgrade to the discharge system.
The RAMP is a joint project between Babcock, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Royal Navy staff, according to Defpro.com.
