The Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) heavy landing ship HMAS Tobruk (L-50) has begun certification trials following completion of the scheduled maintenance period.

The trials will evaluate and confirm the functionality of various ship systems that were installed during the maintenance period.

The maintenance was to ensure safety and reliability as well as operational readiness for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.

HMAS Tobruk, based on the Round Table class design of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, has been designed to provide RAN with additional sea-lift capability.
