The US Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) has awarded a contract to General Dynamics (GD) to provide hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) machinery and systems support.

Under the five-year, $73.3m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, GD will provide services that include prototype engineering, design, development, testing and performance specifications.

The services also include data analysis, system fault tree and safety analysis, computer programming and software engineering.

Additionally, GD will support HM&E machinery and systems on navy vessels and select land-based sites, as well as other federal agency and federally contracted vessels.

The company also provides system training development and on-site technical support, alteration services, integrated logistics and staging.

Work will be carried out in Norfolk, San Diego, Philadelphia and Hawaii, US, as well as in Guam, Japan, Bahrain and Italy.
