The US Government has approved the sale of 246 SM-2 Block IIIB missiles to the Japan Ministry of Defense.

Under the $821m foreign military sale, Japan has also requested for MK 13 MOD 0 vertical launching system canisters, as well as technical and logistics support.

The SM-2 Block IIIB missiles are in service with the Japanese Kongo-class and Atago-class destroyers.

Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a $493m naval tanker supply contract with the New Zealand Defence Force.

As part of the deal, Hyundai Heavy Industries will supply an ice-capable naval tanker that can carry up to 12 TEU shipping containers.

The tanker can be armed with two Mini Typhoon cannons and a Phalanx CIWS weapon system.

The US Naval Air Systems Command has awarded a contract modification to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in support of F-35 Lightning II aircraft.

Under the $241.76m firm-fixed-price contract, Lockheed Martin will procure electronic components for the Lot 15 F-35s through 2018.

The Boeing Company has secured a contract modification to procure long-lead items for the manufacture of four Lot 8 full-rate production P-8A Poseidon maritime aircraft for the Australian Government.

The US Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center has awarded a $42.13m modification contract to General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk for performing repairs on the USS Oak Hill (LSD-51), a Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship of the US Navy.

Scheduled to be completed by next April, the contractual work includes improvements to the ship’s close-in weapons system, engine, habitability, and ballast tank.
