Cubic Worldwide Technical Services has been awarded a contract by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide training and support services to the US Marine Corps Aviation Training System (MCATS) programme.

The one-year $19.8m contract has four option years that, if exercised, will bring the total value of the contract to $106m.

Under the contract, the company will provide classroom and simulator flight training, weapons and tactics instruction, and simulator operations and maintenance support at seven USMC bases.

The contract covers 68 flight simulators, which represent the complete USMC air platform, including the F-18 Hornet, AV-8 Harrier, C-130 Hercules, EA-6 Prowler, the AH-1 Cobra, UH-1 Huey, CH-46 Sea Knight and the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.

The MCATS programme is intended to develop and maintain a fully integrated training system across all marine aviation.
