The US Navy has awarded a SeaPort contract to Alion Science and Technology to analyse submarines, surface ships and associated navy platforms.

Under the contract, the company will provide engineering and technical support for underwater explosion (UNDEX) testing, shock qualification and ship survivability programmes.

The company will also provide validated algorithms for predicting the response of test vehicles, scale models, submarines and surface ships to UNDEX events aimed at extending the fleet’s life cycle.

The contract provides support for navy systems ranging from weapons systems to fleet readiness, homeland security and logistics.

Work on the contract is expected to be completed by 29 September 2014.
