Laser systems firm Alfalight has received a contract to supply its interruption laser system to the US Marine Corps System Command (USMCSC).

Under the five-year, $49m indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, Alfalight will deliver its non-lethal ocular disruptor with enhanced safety (NLOD-ES) system later this year.

Incorporating automated and integrated controls, the rugged, green NLOD-ES system assists in hailing and warning, with an eye-safe operation for users.

"It further validates our strategic focus on designing and manufacturing rugged, integrated laser systems for the defence and security markets."

It is powered by two CR-123A batteries and comes with a long-gun remote tape switch, vertical pistol grip, batteries, carry case, manual and test data.

The system uses technology similar to that found in a long-range ocular disruption system.

Alfalight’s laser and electro-optical systems for defence and security applications are aimed at serving both man-portable and vehicle-borne applications. These include visible, SWIR, and infrared-laser illuminators, targeting, tracking and locating devices, laser-initiated ordnance and power-over-fibre.

Alfalight president and chief executive officer Mohan Warrior said that the latest award builds on the company’s delivery of high-performance laser systems for the US Government.

"It further validates our strategic focus on designing and manufacturing rugged, integrated laser systems for the defence and security markets," Warrior said.

Last year, Laser Energetics submitted its proposal to USMCSC for the deployment of its dazer-laser global hostility ocular suppression technology (GHOST), which incorporates automated continuously variable divergence (A-CVD).
