The Indian Navy has received a new auxiliary craft, Ambuda, to be inducted into its southern naval command at South Jetty, Naval Base.

The 50m-long 930t vessel is fitted with two engines, can carry a crew of 19 and cruises at a speed of 12kt, according to the Hindu.

The auxiliary craft is also equipped with the latest communication and navigation equipment, and carries a rigid inflatable boat (RIB).

The craft has a capacity of 500t of freshwater and is capable of serving the navy’s warships at anchorage to ensure quick operational turnaround.

Ambuda is the third such vessel being built for the Indian Navy.
