The US Navy has awarded a contract to GD Electric Boat (EB) to provide planning yard work, engineering and technical support for nuclear submarines.

Under the $400.6m contract, EB will provide design, engineering, material and logistics support, and research and development activities for active US submarines and submersibles.

The company will also provide information and support services that include planning, scheduling and technical support for submarine maintenance and modernisation, training, and facility and cost reduction services.

Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics.
