Aerojet has produced its 1,000th solid rocket motor for the MK234 Nulka active expendable decoy.

The nulka is ship self-defence system that provides self defence for naval surface combatants against modern anti-ship missiles (ASM).

The system is capable of operating over a wide range of environments providing long-range protection from aerial threats and ensures safe accomplishment of primary force projection missions.

The decoy utilises a technically challenging hovering rocket principle that is supplemented by a solid-state microprocessor autopilot and a thrust vector control.

The system is currently fitted on 130 ships of the US, Canadian and Royal Australian Navy fleets.
