BAE Systems has invited Brazil to co-design the blueprints of the next-generation Type 26 warships for the Royal Navy.

The deal is part of the UK Government’s military co-operation with the country, which involves both countries using the same kind of warships.

The Royal Navy requires ten Type 26s to replace the existing Type 23 and 22 frigate fleet, according to the Portsmouth News.

BAE said it also has plans to involve other navies, such as India, in designing the Type 26s in future.
