The UK Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Defence, Gerald Howarth, has offered a government-to-government project to build 11 warships for the Brazilian Navy.

Under the government’s offer, the UK will build five coastal patrol ships, five navy escorts and a logistical support vessel, according to Agence France Presse.

According to the proposed contract, Brazil demanded a complete technological transfer package as it seeks a maritime defence contract to protect recently found vast offshore oil deposits.

Brazil recently signed a submarine and helicopter deal with France for a multibillion-dollar contract to build 27 fighter jets.
