Northrop has been awarded an indefinite-delivery / indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract by the US Navy to design, deploy and support integrated security solutions for worldwide deployments.
Under the five-year enhanced tactical automated security system (TASS) ID/IQ contract, Northrop will compete for delivery orders worth in excess of $39m for software enhancements, hardware, design, installation and support.
TASS is an open-systems, command-and-control platform for the integration of various sensors designed for force-protection missions.
The sensors allow the system to provide real-time detection and assessment of an intrusion into a protected area, resulting in a quick response.
Northrop Information Systems vice-president Mike Twyman said the solution provided warfighters with wide-area and close-in protection of assets, including forward-deployed and domestic bases and air fields, range safety and tactical flightline protection.
