The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is participating in a multilateral naval exercise, KAKADU, being conducted off the coast of Darwin, Australia.

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) is hosting the three-week exercise, which began on 16 August, with an aim of enhancing interoperability among naval forces in the region.

The RSN’s Formidable Class frigate, RSS Tenacious, and missile corvette RSS Vigour will participate in the exercise for the first time.

The drills include anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare training with warships, submarines and aircraft from Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand taking part.

The KAKADU series was first held in 1993 betweeen the RSN and the RAN.
