The India, Brazil and South Africa navies are to conduct joint maritime exercises off the African coast in September 2010.

Four warships from the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, plus Brazilian warships and South African submarines will be deployed in the Indian Ocean for the navy drills, labelled the India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime Exercises (IBSAMAR).

The Indian warships will visit Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique, and will also patrol Mauritius and the Seychelles to carry out anti-piracy operations.

Brazilian ambassador Marco Brandao said the exercises will give the three countries an opportunity to establish concrete relations, according to The Financial Express.
