The Portuguese Navy will use SeeTrack Military software from SeeByte for its GAVIA autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) operations.

Portuguese Navy MW department head Lieutenant Commander Carlos Afonso said the software would allow the navy to run AUV operations, and support mission lifecycle planning, execution, analysis and data dissemination.

SeeTrack military is designed to work with multiple assets such as diver hand-held systems, marine mammals, towed side-scan and all the existing types of AUVs.

The software is currently used by the navy to search, identify and recover man-made underwater objects missions as well as to enhance the capabilities of remote vehicles, marine mammals and divers.

SeeByte sales manager Ioseba Tena said the company would work closely with the navy’s mine countermeasures units to make best use of the software to carry out important missions.
