The US Navy has awarded a contract to LRAD Corporation to provide acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), integrated LRAD-RX systems and services.

LRAD-RX is the solution for remotely controlled security, allowing system operators to detect and dissiminate an intruder over distance.

The system consists of an integrated camera, high-intensity searchlight (optional), IP-addressable full pan and tilt drive for accurate aiming and tracking.

LRAD-RX can also be integrated with a radar to provide automated intruder alerts reducing manpower and false alarms and providing productive, cost-effective security solutions.

The system uses directionality and focused acoustic output to transmit critical information, instructions and warnings beyond 3,000m.

The initial delivery under the $6.2m multiyear contract is scheduled before the end of 2010.
