The Russian Navy will resume Bulava test launches in August or September, according to a navy official.

The official said that three test launches would be carried out for the ill-fated Bulava ballistic missile by the end of 2010, according to RIA Novosti.

The latest test launch of Bulava on 9 December 2009 from the Dmitry Donskoy nuclear submarine in the White Sea failed due to an engine malfunction.

Bulava is a three-stage liquid and solid-propellant submarine-launched ballistic missile that was successfully launched for only five times in 12 tests.
