Saab will provide Giraffe AMB radar system and related services for Australian defence forces (ADF) under a Skr190m ($24.7m) contract.

The Giraffe AMB is a family of modular surveillance systems specifically designed for simultaneous air defence, air and sea surveillance, air / land integration, military air traffic control and rocket, and artillery and mortar alert.

Saab Electronic Defence Systems senior vice-president Micael Johansson said the radar system would help the ADF to enhance force protection capabilities during international operations.

The system for land, naval and air defence operations will provide the highest performance for critical targets and proven reliability.
