The US Navy has awarded a contract to American Defense Systems for up-armouring solutions of civil engineer support equipment for the Naval Facilities Expeditionary Logistics Center (NFELC) at Port Hueneme, California.

Under the $50m contract, the company will supply add-on-armour crew protection kits (CPK), specially designed to provide enhanced security to marine vehicle operators.

The CPK features fully armoured windows, opaque armour, a combat lock, tool-less emergency egress windows, fortified door hinges and an integrated crew comfort system.

The modular kits could be applied to the vehicle either during its assembly stateside or as a retrofit in theatre.
