The Bangladeshi Navy has deployed a frigate and an offshore patrol vessel to Lebanon to take part in the peacekeeping mission led by the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The ships, BNS Osman and BNS Madhumati, have begun operations in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the peacekeeping mission, according to thedailystar.net.

During the ships first-ever passage from South Asia towards Lebanon the ships visited Colombo, Oman and Jeddah port.

Navy ships from Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Belgium and Turkey are involved in the UNIFIL’s peacekeeping mission, while Japan and Indonesia also intend to join the maritime task force.
