During the patrol mission, both countries conducted enforcement operations, interoperability and search and rescue exercises as well as shared tactical warfare information.
The mission was aimed to improve the coordinated maritime security between the Australian defence forces (ADF) and Indonesian armed forces.
ADF task group commander David Gwyther said Australia and Indonesia had, for the first time, been operating at sea, on land and in the air together to address shared maritime security threats along the exclusive economic zone boundaries.
Australian patrol boats HMAS Maryborough and HMAS Albany along with an AP-3C Orion maritime surveillance aircraft participated in the mission in cooperation with Indonesian corvettes KRI Wiratno and Hasan Basri and an NC-212 aircraft.
