The Royal Netherlands Navy has received its first NH90NFH helicopter from NHIndustries at AgustaWestland’s Vergiate plant in Italy.
The naval NH90 Nato frigate helicopter (NFH) variant is the first of the 20 helicopters ordered by the navy.
Primarily designed for autonomous anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions, the helicopter can also conduct missions including search and rescue, troop transport, medical evacuation and amphibious support.
The deck-lock system, deck traversing system, and the automatic blade and tail folding system of the helicopter allow it to operate from small frigates even in high sea states.
