Cheltenham-based Douglas Equipment has received two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in the innovation and international trade categories.

The company received the innovation award for its conception of the Douglas RAM Handler, developed for the UK Royal Navy.

RAM Handler is an ultra-low profile, electrically powered aircraft deck handling device, which provides a rapid and technically innovative method of moving aircraft on board ship while enhancing safety and efficiency.

The deck handling device reduces aircraft acquisition to just 15 seconds, compared with traditional embedded systems that take up to seven minutes.
