USS Enterprise (CVN 65), the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, has rejoined the US fleet after nearly two years of repairs.

The only ship of its class, USS Enterprise was redelivered to the navy by Northropp Grumman upon completion of extended drydock selected restricted availability (EDSRA) maintenance.

The EDSRA carried out by the company’s shipbuilding sector in Newport News, Virginia, is the carrier’s last dry docking before its deactivation.

During the EDSRA, Northrop performed dry docking work, tank blasting and coating, hull preservation, propulsion and ship system repairs and limited enhancements to various hull, mechanical and electrical systems.

USS Enterprise recently completed successful sea trials, which were conducted to test systems and components, and demonstrate operations at sea including high-speed runs.
