The US Navy has awarded a contract to Colfax Corporation to supply SMART technology systems to the navy’s first two DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class destroyers.

Under the $25m contract, Colfax will supply SMART technology valve systems, magazine fire-suppression systems and SMART pump controllers, including engineering design services and hardware for the surface combatants.

The company has already begun shipping components manufactured at its Portland Valve business in South Portland, Maine, and its Fairmount Automation business in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

Deliveries for both the DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class destroyers will continue to 2010.
