Babcock will upgrade the UK Royal Navy’s amphibious assault ship landing platform dock HMS Bulwark at Devonport Royal Dockyard under an upkeep contract.
Under the 11-month contract, the company will upgrade the ship’s communication equipment, main propulsion system, welldock and aviation support facilities, and will make improvements to the crew and embarked military forces’ living quarters.
In addition, Babcock will remove the ship’s outer bottom anti-fouling paint and replace it with the new ultra-sleek system that improves fuel efficiency and speed through the water.
The improvements will be carried out on the high-pressure salt water, drainage and sewage systems.
