The US Navy has awarded a contract to Global Defense Technology & Systems (GTEC) to continue providing support services for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington.

Under the $10.4m contract, the company will develop electronic countermeasures techniques against radar-controlled weapons systems and new artificial intelligence methods to sort the decision-making information captured by various sensor networks.

In addition, GTEC will create enhanced command and control systems and C4I mission applications and will manufacture optimised unmanned aerial vehicles to serve as expendable decoys in hostile environments.

Work under the five-year contract began on 2 March 2010.
