The Lithuanian Navy has received a new patrol ship, the P14, from Denmark at the navy’s cruiser and warships terminal at Klaipeda.

The P14 is the third patrol ship acquired by the Lithuanian Navy. It will undergo missions including ship patrolling, and search and rescue, among other tasks.

The new ship, to be named Aukštaitis, is scheduled to be officially commissioned on 12 March 2010.

In April 2007, Lithuania signed agreement with Denmark to procure three multipurpose Flyvefisken or Standart Flex 300 Class patrol boats worth around 30m litas ($12m).

Lithuania received the first two ships, P11 Žemaitis and P12 Dzukas, in May 2008 and January 2009 respectively.

Prior to its delivery, P14 underwent repair in Korsor, Denmark, to change its main engines and undergo general modernisation.

The 54m-long and 9m-wide patrol ship has a displacement capacity of 450t. It can accommodate a crew of around 30 and can cruise at a maximum speed of 18kt.
